How to Care for Your Blanket

For the best results, we recommend gentle hand washing whenever possible.

  • Wash in cold or lukewarm water
  • Use a mild, gentle detergent
  • Wash separately or with similar soft items
  • Avoid harsh rubbing, scrubbing, or pulling on the floral details
  • Do not use bleach or strong cleaning products
  • Do not wring or twist the blanket

If your product includes a sewn-in care label, always follow the instructions on that label first.

Drying

To help your blanket maintain its shape and texture:

  • Gently press out excess water — do not wring
  • Reshape the blanket and flowers while damp
  • Lay flat to air dry
  • Keep away from direct heat and prolonged strong sunlight
  • Avoid tumble drying whenever possible

High heat may affect the softness, shape, or decorative details of your blanket.

Caring for the Flowers

The floral details are one of the most special parts of your PURL & POSY blanket and should be treated gently.

Please avoid:

  • Pulling or stretching the flowers
  • Brushing them aggressively
  • Placing heavy objects directly on them for long periods
  • Allowing jewelry, zippers, hooks, or sharp objects to snag the yarn
  • Ironing directly over the flowers

If a flower becomes slightly flattened during shipping or storage, gently reshape it with your fingers and allow it time to naturally regain its form.

Spot Cleaning

For small marks or spills, we recommend spot cleaning first.

  1. Blot the area gently with a clean, damp cloth.
  2. Use a small amount of mild detergent if necessary.
  3. Avoid rubbing the stain aggressively.
  4. Blot with clean water to remove any detergent residue.
  5. Allow the area to air dry completely.

The sooner a spill is treated, the easier it may be to remove.

Storage

When your blanket is not in use:

  • Make sure it is completely clean and dry before storing
  • Fold it loosely rather than compressing it tightly
  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
  • Keep away from sharp objects that may catch or pull the yarn

For longer-term storage, we recommend keeping your blanket in a breathable fabric storage bag rather than an airtight plastic container.
